New Software Release: Amberg Rail 3.6.2.0
We are pleased to announce Amberg Rail 3.6.2.0, the latest version of our flagship railway surveying software. This release introduces powerful new features, key enhancements, and performance improvements to streamline workflows and boost productivity across your rail projects.
Amberg Clearance

New High-Performance Point Cloud Viewer (2D/3D)
Amberg Rail 3.6.2.0 introduces a brand new Point Cloud Viewer, delivering significantly improved performance—especially when working with high-resolution or large datasets—together with enhanced visualisation capabilities. It provides synchronised 2D and 3D views with flexible display modes and smooth navigation for faster zooming and panning, including the option to lock or unlock movement along axes. Real-time clearance calculation and visualisation further enable accurate, on-the-fly analysis.

Image Acquisition with Profiler 6020C
Support for the Amberg Profiler 6020C now includes synchronised image acquisition. Images captured alongside point cloud data provide enhanced visualisation and improve the documentation of scanned environments.

Processing and Visualisation of Coloured Point Clouds
The Point Cloud Viewer now adds support for coloured point clouds, combining geometric data with RGB information. This enables more intuitive interpretation, realistic visualisation, and improved analysis of scanned environments.

Improved Workflow and Visualisation for Object Detection
A more user-friendly workflow has been implemented for semi-automated detection of key railway infrastructure elements such as overhead wires, neighbour tracks, platform edges, and stepping distances. Detected objects are visualised directly in 3D, supporting accurate analysis, improved safety assessment, and faster decision-making.

DXF-Matrix Export for 2D Clearance Profiles
A new DXF-matrix export option is available for 2D clearance profiles. Profiles are ordered in a grid pattern and exported to a single DXF file, providing structured and standardised output for seamless integration with CAD workflows and further analysis.

Improved and Unified Design Alignment Consistency Check
The design alignment selected in a job or application wizard is now subject to a unified consistency check. Problematic alignment elements are highlighted in red, guiding users directly to where corrections are required.
The presentation of the check is uniform across all wizards where a design alignment can be selected.
Amberg Rail – General

AP20 AutoPole Integration
Amberg Rail 3.6.2.0 now supports the Leica AP20 AutoPole with GRP 1000, GRP 3000, and GRP 5000 configurations. This integration brings automatic target identification and locking, enhancing prism tracking throughout rail surveys.
Prism lock is often interrupted by line-of-sight issues or reflective surfaces. With the AP20, the total station automatically re-locks onto the Amberg system, reducing downtime and manual corrections.
Fewer disruptions mean faster surveys, smoother workflows, and greater confidence on site.

AMU 1030P – Next Generation IMU Performance
The AMU 1030P, successor to the trusted AMU 1030, is now available. Built for projects demanding exceptional accuracy and minimal drift, it enables longer distances between control points while maintaining high measurement precision.
This makes it ideal for long track runs, sparse control networks, or even verifying control point consistency with the inertial trajectory itself.
With this release, the Amberg IMS family is complete:
- AMU 1030P – flagship model with market-leading performance
- AMU 2030 – high-performance for demanding applications
- AMU 2010N – cost-effective for shorter runs and dense control networks

Simpler and More Intuitive Trolley Setup
Configuring the working direction and trolley orientation is now more intuitive than ever. A consistent interface across all IMS and GRP measurement wizards ensures faster setup and more reliable operation on site.

Improved IMS Measurement Interruption Workflow
Interruptions such as passing trains or track obstacles can require IMS measurements to be paused. The updated workflow improves usability by making the restart process simpler, clearer, and more efficient.

Configurable Network Rail Speed Raiser Thresholds
Network Rail Speed Raiser now supports the following tolerance sets:
- Ballast track
- Installation tolerance
- Maintenance tolerance
- Intervention limit
- User-defined tolerances
