The missing link in Berlin's metro system has been completed!

The U5 in Berlin was opened in December 2020. Amberg Engineering contributed important design services for this vital metro link!

The 2 new single-track subway tunnels serve as a connection between the two existing lines U5/U55 with the stations Alexanderplatz/Brandenburger Tor. Additionally, three new metro stations were constructed. The alignment leads underneath the river Spree and the Spree channel and crosses several existing tunnels and a few of them with only 4m overburden. Amberg Engineering elaborated the conceptual- and tendering design and the implementation planning for the client BVG.
