The International Tunnelling Association (ITA) has published the list of the finalists for the ITA tunnelling awards 2019. This year, more than 310 candidacies were submitted. The 17-strong expert judging panel, chaired by the ITA President Jinxiu (Jenny) Yan, has concluded its deliberation and has chosen 32 entries as finalists who will participate in the second evaluation stage to determine the winners. We are proud that there are three Amberg related nominations which made it to the finals.
Tunnel Inspection 4.0 – Smart Tunnel Maintenance using Artificial Intelligence
Fewer time-consuming operations at off-peak times, shorter blocking periods, fast and accurate recording of features in tunnels and other infrastructures: These are the goals of an ambitious research project which Amberg, together with other project partners, has been pursuing since the end of 2018.
The entire sensor technology required for a tunnel inspection will be installed in a high-tech scanner in the future. Read here what role artificial intelligence plays for the project.
Underground Green Farming
The innovative Aquaponic prototype combines the sustainable, underground cultivation of fish and salad. The main goal of the project is to overcome food shortages by using existing underground space. Amberg is a proud industry partner of the project.
