Breakthrough at the Semmering Base Tunnel!

After an incredible 3,374 days, the excavation work on construction lot SBT1.1 was successfully completed on December 11, 2024. With this, we are thrilled to announce that all excavation work for the entire Semmering Base Tunnel is now finished!

This journey has been filled with exciting, eventful, and - especially from a geotechnical perspective - highly challenging tunnel drives. Looking back, it is clear that this milestone was only possible thanks to the outstanding collaboration of everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all who contributed to this achievement!

Glück Auf!

The final breakthrough of the tunnel crown on Track 2 took place on November 29, 2024.

Contract award for the N02/N14 complete system bypass Lucerne – we accompany the project until commissioning!

In October, ASTRA, the Swiss Federal Road Administration, awarded the JV IG ByTuLu+, in which Amberg Engineering is partnered together with Lombardi AG (pilot), ILF Beratende Ingenieure AG, Emch+Berger WSB AG and B+S AG, with the continuation of the planning of Bypass Lucerne. As part of the ByTuLu+ engineering community, we are pleased to have been commissioned as project authors for phases 41 to 53 after successful work in the previous project phases.

IG ByTuLu+ combines the expertise of Amberg Engineering AG, Lombardi Engineering Switzerland AG, ILF Consulting Engineers in Switzerland, and B+S AG, Emch+Berger Group to optimally implement this demanding large-scale project in a sensitive urban environment. With the Lucerne Tunnel Bypass at its heart, national and regional transit traffic will be efficiently relocated, significantly improving the traffic situation on the national road and significantly relieving the Lucerne area's local transport network.

Our tasks include tender planning, coordinated execution, and careful commissioning, whereby we involve all relevant stakeholders early and ensure our clients' technical and communicative requirements are met. We thank our amazing project team, who professionally developed this project in the last 10 years, resulting in the award for the next phases.

A special thank you to everyone involved for their trust in our work. Together, we will create a sustainable and future-oriented solution for mobility in Lucerne!

CIGEO PROJECT

France

Amberg Engineering wins new mission at ANDRA.

Amberg Engineering has recently been commissioned by ANDRA, the French agency responsible for managing radioactive waste, to conduct studies focused on two key aspects of the Cigeo project, which involves the construction of a deep geological repository for long-lived radioactive waste.

Specifically, Amberg will be designing the downhill heads (Tete des descenderies) that will initiate the tunnel-boring machines and developing a hydrogeological study to develop the design of the watertight walls for the descent.

Our Belgian/French Team has thoughtfully prepared to address the critical challenges of this project and will undertake this mission with the highest level of commitment and enthusiasm.
