International Exchange and Collaboration at Underground Construction Prague 2026
The Congress Underground Construction Prague 2026, organised by the Czech Tunnelling Association (CzTA ITA-AITES), served as an international platform for knowledge exchange on the planning, design, and construction of underground structures for High-Speed Rail (HSR).
The Open Session brought together leading experts from across the global tunnelling community to discuss technical challenges, share project experience, and explore future developments in underground infrastructure.
Patrick Senn participated as a speaker, presenting lessons learned from major Alpine railway tunnel projects and contributing practical insights to the discussion on complex underground works for high-speed rail corridors.
The International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA-AITES) highlighted the strong collaboration among participants and the positive outcomes of the session, underlining the value of international cooperation. The organisers described the event as “friendly and inspiring… created by people who share a common enthusiasm for tunnels and tunnelling,” and concluded that “it was fair to conclude that it was a success.” The event reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration in advancing underground construction technologies and strengthening knowledge exchange within the global tunnelling community.
