Hardware Application Engineer – Rail measuring technologies 80-100% (m/f/d)

Key Responsibilities

• Draft specifications for measurement equipment deployed in the Rail industry 
• Improve existing hardware and develop new product concepts/prototypes 
• Oversee hardware design and sensors integration in cooperation with hardware & software development engineers and external contractors
• Coordinate embedded software development when needed (firmware)
• Act as a technological expert/advisor in sensors fusion and integration for the different departments 
• Expand the network of potential consultants and laboratories/suppliers to face peaks or technological gap on specific topics
• Determine project constraints including estimated time and costs
• Actively support the affiliated teams throughout the entire development phase, also including testing, documentation, validation and quality assurance
• Conduct system validations in the market for key clients identifying relevant norms and certifications and their application to the specific product
• Create and maintain technical product documentation

Desired Skills

• A BSc. / MSc. degree in Electronic Engineering/ Mechatronics is required
• Dynamic professional with a minimum of 5 years of work experience
• Ability to design solutions which integrate sensors and embedded electronic on different platforms (e.g. trolleys, railway vehicles, trains, drones)
• Experience with small batch production
• Sound knowledge in some programming languages (e.g. Java, Python )
• Very good written and spoken command of English and /or German is required
